For my “incorrect” way

Of holding my pen

I am the canvas pouch with a zipper

Pencil case

With Lisa frank dolphins and cats

Printed across the front

I am the three ring binder

With color coded file folders

For each topic of study

I am the smudge free planner

Waiting for tasks to be written

And crossed through once completed

I am the 30 something year old

Who has not entered a classroom in many years

Yet still gets excited for back to school shopping

As if an indicator

Of new beginnings

Fresh starts

That although I may not sit in a classroom

I am always a student

Hunger and eager

For expansion

And betterment of myself
